Once hardwood products are processed into pallet components (deckboards, stringers and blocks) they are nailed together in automated, computer assisted Viking Nailing
Machines.
Specialty orders of pallets, skids, and crates are hand nailed to
meet customer needs.
In 2002,
Southern Packaging, Inc. installed a heat treatment unit to sanitize wood products for suitability in
export markets. The current chamber can treat 2
truckloads of pallets per cycle. This provides the
capacity to heat treat 6-10 truck loads each day. IPPC
requirements are achieved and fully inspected by the National
Hardwood Lumber Association. Certified heat treated
pallets have been a significant new service in meeting our
customers needs. |
